sorry guys ... but I think it still needs to be discussed.

During this weekend I saw like 30-40% of players in cz are Mages.
Especially at evening, when there are 200+ players online.

Whatever you think about Mages - "overpowered" or "to weak" - I think its just not normal to have so many Mages in cz.
It shows me that there is something unbalanced.

There are two classes that can easily ruin a servers pk if they arent balanced very carefully:
Mages + Archers.

If you have to many from one of these classes...there is definately something wrong with balance
and it will spoil the pk.

Obviously Archers arent a problem at Maxko... so
here is what I think about Mages:

1. I think it was a good move to make Mages staff hit more powerfull. Makes Mage more versatile - not just Nova/ Party support tp. Mages get lots of kills now (most I think) and it can be fun to own with a good Mage Party.

2. The more a server gets crowded and the more Mages you have, the more the AOE dmg becomes a problem. When there are like 2 Mage Partys throwing Novas in front of town (a gate at CSW) or they rush in a fight from behind...there is no one that survives that, not even a warrior with undy - except he is a lucky good runner ;) .
Thats why I suggest to lower Mages AOE dmg. We already have to many unskilled Nova-throwers on this server - getting lots of kills.

3. What makes Mages OP (IMO) is the 1h Staff + Shield - usually Tstaff+TShield.
They are hard to kill but they still hit about the same dmg.
Reduce dmg if Mage wear 1h staff or reduce some Bonus from TStaff.
You could also make TShield a "Priest-only" shield.

4. Mages hit to much dmg on BDW-Monu.
A Party with 3+ Mages will win every BDW now. They can take down monu in 2min... escape with tp.
Or just die, tp, die, tp ...
Even if your Party is leading in kills, you wont hinder them from taking Monu. Its to easy for them.

Personally I agree with what you say except for 2. I believe mages AOE should actually be increased or remain the same because thats how mages should pk. With good communication and well timed novas. Mages staff are not suppose to be their primary weapon, but instead a alternative if melee get too close. Its ridiculous that a party of 6 mages and 2 priests can fight a melee party with just their staffs. Please reduce melee dmg on the mages staff by just a bit please.

sure i am agree with you, this is diffucult play in cz, pls all GM ans Flegy go and check pls mage staff damage pls.

@ Desti I never thought that I could disagree with you...
But I do in this case ;)

Its two different views about Mages:
Some focus more on the AOE abilities.
Some (like 220) like the melee abilities.**

On others servers u usually had to choose one of them.
MP build for AOE and Mage spells.
Str build for staff hit dmg
- but those Mages did suffer from very low HP...

Problem here is, that you can have both in one build. :roll:

I personally dislike high nova dmg...because it always leads to Mage AOE pk Partys, that will rule wars, csw etc... just everything where you can hit many people with throwing aoe.

Similar thing would be two Archer Partys spamming their far attack skills.
They will get lots of kills...but it ruins the kind of (mixed/balanced) pk that I like.



**forgot to mention that there were players ( once upon a time...) that just played Mage for its regroup/ save-tp/ tactic abilities...
This can also be very powerfull...you just wont see ur name pop up in cz... ;)

5. Mages range attack
The range skill with 2k+ damage is to sick..
If u even walk by a mage party, and they 'spot' u,
they can already range attack.. They ks every
possible sin kill to..

we went up against a mage party + some other randoms yesterday and it was hard like hell to kill them but we finally chased them away... there was also 1 time when i got staff hit by 5-6 mages + 2-3 melees while i was trying to run away (orc rush)... i took almost 20 x dmg under 2 secs (some mage hit me 2-3 times staff attack due to its range) i had 15k+hp 2.6k+ def (int priest with tshield+cmace) and down under 2 secs without even getting debuffed :D

but then again... 1 or 2 mages in a party does not make that party overpowered unless there are 1-2 party of mages, then YES they are deadly with their novas... i think nova damages are OK as someone said that those should be their primary skills... mages with Tshield+Tstaff should only be able to play as support only and should not be able to spam 1kdmg... if mages wanna hit hard, they should use 2hd staffs... Tshield+Tstaff mages should give damages like int priests using helis.. 300-400 dmg on warriors/priests :lol: instead of spamming 1k dmg

i realy agree with miles,maybe give a limited user for become mage :D
1 or 1/2 mage clan for each nation and 2 mage member for each clan. . .
